Breaking News – our First FEI Win!
On of all horses, my special needs horse, Mango(ZA Marengo) Mango is known to most of the UK endurance riding community, and especially mygood friends in Norfolk. He has not always been the easiest horse in the world to do anything with. Martin from Iceni Endurance well remembers my first ride with him, where having thought I had resolved our loading and unloading issues it became clear as the venue emptied that I had not resolved anything. Finally as were the only people left and with Andy having taken his horse home to get him settled, we decided I would go through the forest and Martin would meet me on the main Diss road and we would convoy behind me in his car with the hazard lights on while Mango happily tootled down the main road in the pitch dark and pouring rain while lorries and cars shot past us. Next morning he just walked straight into the trailer …….
Anyway, Mango the Magnificent as we call him has so many exploits that I cannot possible to cover all of them. This time at Haywood Oaks, he vetted beautifully and I actually did not fall off him ! that’s always nice ….. He also flew out of the venue at every loop – much less embarrassing than at Barbury Castle last year when he kept reversing at speed around the timer ! or galloped flat out “home” to the stabling around the race track rather than going on course, or of course last year at Haywood Oaks when he suddenly realised he could dive through a gap in the hedge and get back to the stables and then refused to come out of them …. dear dear little Mango. On this occasion there is almost nothing to tell, except that my wonderful gorgeous show horse only Won the 1* – my first ever FEI win and on the special boy Mango. Nothing more to say.
