Akala - 1987 Chestnut Crabbet Mare
Breeding: | St John x Aisha |

Akala is the name of my first Arabian horse, a Crabbetts Chestnut mare, standing at 16'2 h, Akala was a wonderful example of ridden Arabian stock, perfectly suited to endurance and to all round riding ability.
She was by St John, out of Aisha. Showing the Ayerza lines of Argentina. She was very much a 'mare' - earning herself the stable name of Witchi. She was the alpha mare within the herd, and was frequently used to train and help the younger horses.
Our best memories are of long weekend rides through the tranquillity of Thetford forest, riding through dappled sunlight along narrow tracks, galloping through the grassy rides, and stopping for a break for a kit kat for both of us. Treasured Memories.
